In this unique exhibition past meets present, and that which is often hidden within the covers and pages of books or unnoticed, is skillfully exposed to reveal its beauty and truth. Unlike traditional media, books can carry visible marks and traces of their past existence, their environment and all those who so intimately held them, for decades if not centuries, as is the case with many of the collage and assemblage works in this exhibition. And, if books are vessels of imagination and repositories of human experiences, then the artwork created from these books will have the potential to share the essence of those qualities in an aesthetically poignant and powerful way.
