a contemporary cuban art exhibition
curated by Deborah Danelley
June 2 – 29, 2015
Blankstein Gallery, Millennium Library, Winnipeg, Mb
Cuban artists from a barrio in Havana, Cuba known as Muraleando, will have the opportunity of a lifetime – to exhibit their work outside of their community and outside of their country! Deborah Danelley has been travelling to Havana for the last 7 years to volunteer alongside these artists, in the Muraleando Community Art Project. This exhibition was proposed to them last year when she visited and they embraced it wholeheartedly. Deborah will be returning from this year’s trip at the end of April with numerous works which will be displayed in the Library’s Gallery in June. Come and learn more about the Muraleando Community Art Project and its artists at an informal talk which Deborah will give on Monday evening June 15th, 7pm in the Gallery. The theme of the exhibition is a celebration of women.
